When I was in coaching school, I met a wonderful human who told me that he taught his clients this beautifully simple practice. Whenever they’d have a negative or scary thought, he asked them to add this short statement: “And the sky is blue.”
As in: “I got laid off last month and the sky is blue.” Or “My boss is losing it and the sky is blue.” Or “I have no idea what to do with my career and the sky is blue.”
When I first started my business, it took YEARS, not months, to take off. I was freaking out so much of the time. So I tried this and it worked. “I don’t know if I’ll ever have enough clients, or the right clients and the sky is blue.” “I’m sick of feeling like a failure and the sky is blue.” “I need to make more money and the sky is blue.”
Even if there are clouds overhead, beyond them the blue sky IS there. Always.
