In the last 15 months, we’ve all had to negotiate a new relationship with hope. What is it safe to hope for? When is it realistic to hope? When will I get vaccinated? When can I plan a vacation that requires a passport? When will I see my colleagues and customers in person again? When can I visit my grandparents?
As encouragers-in-chief (thanks to Scott Belsky for that great term), every leader helps teams see the future. What will our business look like in two years? What will our opportunities be? What can we contribute to the new world we’ll all co-create and inhabit?
Staying afloat during a crisis is a huge thing. Now that we’re (mostly) past the rough waters, please do turn your energy toward looking ahead. Spend time ideating about what the next two years will look like and then share those ideas with your team. Get them thinking too. Now is a great time to look forward, to inspire, to encourage. When you and your team turn your eyes to the future you’ll infuse the vital energy of hope throughout your organization!
