The most disciplined leaders I know are able to shift not just their minds but their moods as they move from one topic to the next in a day’s worth of meetings.
Are you leading people? If you had an awful budget meeting with your SVP right before your team meeting, it’s important to make a conscious effort to let go of your anger and frustration BEFORE you walk into the room to encourage your team to do great work.
This is easier said than done. Sometimes physically shaking off bad feelings can help. Deep breaths can help. Or taking a short walk. Sometimes focusing on something positive – like how proud you are of your team under these adverse circumstances – can really shift your mood.
Our non-verbals communicate as much as the words we say. We are living through trying times. Bringing clean energy into your next meeting of the day is a gift you can give everyone who meets with you.
Take the risk out of being in the spotlight! I can prepare you, your teams and your leaders to tell your company’s story with confidence, shape the industry and maybe even change the world.
