You want to become a better communicator. But there are so many things to work on. Where should you start? With your audience. To be more specific: with how what you do/know really helps your audience.
I have worked with people who are super introverted, remote, cerebral, nervous. But in nearly every case, when these wonderfully talented people start describing how what they have built can really solve a problem, their whole affect changes. Their eyes light up, because they are re-immersed in the drive that led them to the fundamental insight/solution/product that they will take on stage to share with customers who really need it!
When they get on stage, they don’t show up like Steve Jobs or PT Barnum, but their sincerity and enthusiasm shines through.
You don’t have to be a remarkable presenter to compel your audience’s attention. You need to tell them something they very much need to hear. You need to let them see how much you care about their problem.
